Unprecedented mapping by Anbima highlights technologies, concepts, and emerging trends the industry needs to follow

The 50 innovations mapped in the Futures Radar, divided by category
Anbima has launched the Futures Radar, a tool that maps out key innovations expected to reshape the financial sector over the next 5 to 10 years. The tool was designed as a starting point for institutions to better understand the potential of emerging technologies, concepts, and trends.
“The goal is to help institutions plan for major transformations, rather than just reacting once they are already at the doorstep,” said Marcelo Billi, head of Innovation, Sustainability, and Education at Anbima.
He noted that the initiative supports innovation and decision-making by offering a strategic view of trends that may transform business models, products, processes, and regulations. “The tool serves companies of all sizes, but it is especially relevant for small and mid-sized firms, as they face more constraints in terms of staffing and budget to track and anticipate trends.”
The innovations are divided into six key areas: digital transformation; operational and process efficiency; risk management and data intelligence; regulation, transparency, and compliance; sustainability and reputation; and access and engagement. More than 90 innovations were evaluated by market specialists, and the 50 highest-scoring ones were included in the Futures Radar.
Two criteria were applied in the evaluation: maturity and relevance. Maturity was assessed using the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) system created by NASA, while relevance reflected the average ratings (on a scale of 1 to 5) given by the Anbima Innovation Network community, indicating the expected impact on capital markets.
“The result is a robust and reliable list, and anyone can check the individual scores directly in the tool,” explained Billi, adding that the initiative also has an educational component. “The Radar was designed to be accessible, with intuitive visualization and explanatory content that help users understand each innovation and its potential.”
In addition, the tool features an AI assistant that helps users navigate and extract personalized insights, making it easier to identify opportunities.
Highlights from each key area of the Futures Radar
1. Blockchain Proof-of-Stake (PoS)
PoS is a consensus mechanism in blockchains that does not require energy-intensive mining, reducing environmental impact and operational costs. For this reason, it is preferred in second-generation blockchains. In Brazil, it can accelerate the tokenization of assets, making issuance, trading, and settlement faster and cheaper, while reinforcing transparency in processes mediated by financial institutions.
2. Global Financial Passport
A decentralized digital identity solution that consolidates investor data into a single interoperable record. With cryptographic validation and international standards, it enables secure and auditable data sharing among financial institutions, reducing redundancies and easing compliance. This technology has the potential to transform Know Your Client (KYC) and suitability processes, streamlining access to foreign financial products.
3. Asset Tokenization
The representation of rights over assets (such as real estate, receivables, corporate stakes, fund units, or shares) through digital tokens on a blockchain. These tokens can be fractioned, allowing smaller investments and greater distribution among investors. Issuance can occur on public or private blockchains, with smart contracts setting the rules for issuance, distribution, and transfer. Blockchain technology ensures immutability, traceability, and can reduce operational costs, especially in settlement, auditing, and reconciliation.
4. Smart Contracts
Used in blockchains to automatically record and execute transactions based on predefined rules, in a transparent and immutable way, without intermediaries. In capital markets, they can automate complex fund management routines such as asset settlement, distribution of returns, compliance monitoring, and execution of contracts in tokenized issuances. They also enable integration with automated auditing and real-time monitoring.
5. Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI)
XAI enhances machine learning models by making their decisions transparent and interpretable, replacing the “black box” approach. This facilitates validation by internal teams, auditors, and regulators—an essential step for financial institutions that want to use algorithms in portfolio management, asset forecasting, and fraud detection but face regulatory barriers. XAI also strengthens client trust by providing clear explanations for investment recommendations.
6. Real-time Fraud Detection Systems
These systems use AI, machine learning, and behavioral analysis to automatically identify, classify, and respond to suspicious transactions within milliseconds. They detect dynamic patterns and contextual anomalies, such as unauthorized access, suspicious movements, or money laundering. In Brazil’s capital markets, brokers, digital banks, and asset managers are already adopting these systems as part of their compliance and cybersecurity strategies.
This initiative is part of the Anbima in Action continuity agenda, a set of priorities for 2025–2026.

About Anbima in Action
Anbima in Action brings together the Association’s main initiatives for this year and next. The strategic plan was built through broad consultation with members, new market participants, regulators, and Anbima leadership, resulting in an agenda based on three pillars: representation, data intelligence, and cost reduction in compliance. In addition to these pillars, Anbima in Action 2025–2026 includes areas already underway because of their strategic importance to the market and to the Association’s future: sustainability, international investment, digital finance, artificial intelligence, and education.
